Mangalore, Jul 24: The district BJP unit staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here on Wednesday, July 23, against the UPA-led central government, for allegedly trying to lure MPs with huge sums of money in order to win the trust vote.

Former MLA Jayaram Shetty said that the Congress had taught the lesson of corruption to the entire country by bribing the MPs of other parties thereby disgracing the democracy. Former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao had also bribed the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MPs to save his government in the past, while the present government has repeated this act.

Meanwhile, the Congress is trying to destabilize the non-Congress led state governments, said Shetty. State BJP vice-president Anwar Manippadi said that Udupi MP Manorama Madhavaraj was also bribed not to attend the parliamentary sessions. This act is condemnable, he opined.

District BJP president Monappa Bhandary, vice-president Nitin Kumar, and several party activists were present on the occasion.
