Mangalore: Men Using Front Doors of Buses to Feel the Heat

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jul 24: The bus conductors in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts keep shouting the 'Dumbu Pole’ instructions relentlessly to the passengers who board the bus from the back door. If at all the men obey them and try to alight through the front door even if they are pushed by others to do so, they need to ensure that there are no cops around.

Because, the front doors of buses are now recognized as the exclusive domain of the fair sex. Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar has issued instructions to the police department and the transport authority to enforce this rule strictly in the district. This was done in response to a memorandum submitted by representatives of various women organizations to him, seeking his interference to ensure that the ladies get exclusive use of the front door.

Is the back door reserved for men alone? Are men allowed to hang on the front footboard after getting in from the rear to facilitate women to get into the crowded buses? Not known yet. Perhaps not at all.

Not a great idea.Infact why not have ladies only buses like our neighbouring states. How about men in the front side of a overcrowded city bus to get down. Will our rude conductors wait till the men go and alight from the rear door. Also do not allow women to occupy other seats when the seats earmarked for them are empty.Try to stop miscreants from misbehaving with women. How about some conductors asking men to get in from front door.

First of all , you people should ask the Minister to make a rule to fix governors for the buses plying in your district. I have never seen such arrogant driving and such a stupid behavior of drivers who drive at a high speed without following traffic rules.

I think the minister and the police and the RTO all are linked with each other and are therefore blind to take any action. When they dont know how the buses are plying, then what is the use of front and rear door. Anyhow people are to be blamed who ply in these buses.

Better make a permanent partition seperating the two genders in the bus. Will definitely avoid "friction" of all sorts !!!

This is a good news. What I feel is, we should be very proud about our authorities that they are trying to bring in and follow some rules. Earlier also there were many rules and even they were printed on the backside of the drivers seat. But, how many were following these rules. Now since the authorities are strictly following them, this is bringing some kind of awareness to the general public. We should salute to these officers.

Its a good rule implemented by the Minister and the the transport authority. Thanks to them. Also an addition is needed to the rule, women should not alight through the rear doors in rush buses(or any buses). and also when seats reserved for ladies are vacant ladies should not occupy the other seats

This rule should be followed strictly. Ladies who were sitting, beside them guys who can't control their feelings simply dependent on ladies either by touching their legs or somewhere else. It should not be a nuisance for ladies ,police should take action on those whose simply disturb ladies. Even public & ecspecially ladies should ovdercome & punish them those violate & create problem to them.
