Mangalore, Jul 24: Through a recent order, the state government has issued instructions that the state education department should not deploy teachers for non-teaching duties like revision of electoral rolls.
Although the High Court and the Supreme Court had expressed themselves against the practice of utilizing the services of teachers for non-teaching duties, the state government had not issued orders in tune with their instructions. Karnataka State Primary School Teaches Association (KSPSTA) had been fighting against the practice of entrusting several duties to the teachers in addition to their normal duty of teaching at schools.
Through a release, vice-president of the KSPSTA K N Chandrashekhar Shetty has said that positively responding to the pleas put forward by the association and acting as per the court orders, the under secretary to the state government has issued orders not to utilize the services of teaches for other non-teaching jobs like electoral roll revision.
