Bantwal: Hit by bus, pillion rider of bike loses life

Bantwal, Jan 24: After a bus hit a motor bike on the road bend near Siddakatte in the taluk on the evening of Tuesday January 23, the pillion rider was killed.

Avinash (17), son of Ramesh Acharya, resident of Shettibettu living near Gunashree school at Siddakatte lost his life in this accident. Ramesh Acharya, who belongs to a very poor family, is suffering from chronic ill health. His only son, Avinash, used to do wood carvings, it is gathered.

On Tuesday, Avinash, seated in the pillion of a new two-wheeler, was going to his home when a private bus moving towards the town from Moodbidri hit his vehicle. Avinash, who fell down and suffered serious injuries, was being taken to the government hospital here when his end came, said police personnel of Punjalkatte station, where a case of accidental death was registered.
