Mangaluru: Congress demands stringent action against offensive pictures on WhatsApp

Mangaluru, Jan 24: District Youth Congress led by president Mithun Rai submitted a memorandum to police commissioner T R Suresh here on Wednesday, January 23 demanding action against miscreants for circulating obscene pictures on Islam, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and chief minister Siddaramaiah in a WhatsApp group.

Youth Congress president, Mithun Rai said, “From the past few days, some miscreants are trying to disturb the peace in the district. Some obscene images of Muslim community and of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and chief minister Siddaramaiah is being circulated in a WhatsApp group titled ‘Karavali Rajakeeya Charche’ and ‘Karunada Rajakeeya Kadana’. This is hurting the sentiments of Muslim community and Congress representatives.”

“We strongly condemn this and demand to detain the culprits and take stringent action against them. This is the third time we are complaining issue relating to social media. After detaining the culprits and when they are taken to the court, we will show them our power,” he warned.
