Hyderabad, Jan 24: A youth from Hyderabad almost lost his life, after attempting to take a selfie next to a speeding train.

The incident happened on Sunday near the Bharatnagar railway station in Hyderabad, but came to limelight after it went viral on social media on Wednesday.

The youth identified as Shiva is seen standing near the railway track smiling at the video being recorded in his smart phone, as Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train approaches behind him. His friends warn him to step aside but he is heard saying ‘one minute’ in Telugu and even ignores the blaring horn. The train rams into him.

On hearing about the incident the personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the spot and shifted him to a private hospital. Though he suffered injuries, his condition is stable, the police said.

The Railway Police Force have registered a case under 147 IR Act and trespassing against him.

In the recent past, selfie videos of individuals being grievously injured or dying after being hit by trains have been reported across the country.

Another video which went viral just yesterday shows a Kashmiri boy lying on the track while a speeding train passes over him. The stunt was severely criticized with many social media users asking for the youth’s arrest.
