Mangaluru: Canara School's NCC cadet to represent state in Republic Day Parade

Mangaluru, Jan 25: Deepashree, a ninth standard student of Canara High School Urwa in the city and National Cadet Corps cadet, has been chosen to participate in the Republic Day Parade being held at New Delhi on January 26. She is among the 16 high school section cadets chosen from the army wing of Karnataka-Goa 18th battallian.

Deepashree was chosen after a series of camps held during the last four months at different spots, during which cadets who did not perform up to the expectations were dropped at each stage. Deepashree, who also has immense interest in dance, also has got an opportunity to showcase her dancing skills in the presence of the Prime Minister.

Deepashree happens to be the daughter of tourist taxi driver, Laksheesh and Meenakshi couple from Kottara. Her commanding officer, Col Regi Philipose, associate NCC officer, Lt Col Gratian Sequeira, associated NCC officer, Raveendranath Shetty, and head teacher of the school, Aruna Kumari,are very happy about their student's feat.
