Mangalore, Jul 29: The police have tightened security in the city following a series of bomb blasts at Bangalore and Ahmedabad and this has helped them in catching an inter-state gang of vehicle lifters.
The police have extended their screening in Nantoor junction for day time too. They caught two inter-state thieves here on Monday July 28. The arrested have been identified as Murali of Puttige in Moodbidri and Abdul Jabbar of Pallamajal in Bantwal.
When the police posted at Nantoor junction stopped the above persons for inspection, they could not furnish necessary records of the vehicle in which they were travelling. The theft incident came into light during their detailed interrogation. The police have seized a Maruti 800, Santro and a Yamaha bike from their possession.
SP Satheeshkumar informed the media persons on Tuesday July 29 that the duo used to sell the stolen cars in Maharashtra. A total of 12 cases are pending against Murali in Mumbai, he added.
