Modi walks on Rajpath, greets people

New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday walked a few paces along the Rajpath to greet the people after the Republic Day parade had ended and waved to the cheering crowd.

The Prime Minister greeted people seated on both sides of Rajpath soon after President Ram Nath Kovind and the leaders of 10 Asean countries had left the venue.

Modi, who was attired in churidar-kameez coupled with a jacket, sported a traditional turban with a long flowing end. He waved to the crowds on one side and then moved to the other.

The security personnel kept pace with him and maintained a security ring around him.

The Asean leaders were chief guests at India's 69th Republic Day celebrations.
