Jharkhand celebrates Republic Day


Ranchi, Jan 26 (IANS): Jharkhand celebrated the country's 69th Republic Day on Friday with pomp and gaiety.

Governor Draupadi Murmu hoisted the Tricolour at Morabadi ground of Ranchi. She received the guard of honour from the state police. In her speech, she elaborated on the work done by the state government in different fields. She also appealed to youths led astray to join the mainstream of society.

Different department tableaux were presented at the Morabadi ground which was attended by the senior government officials and common people in large numbers. Later, the Information and Public Relations Department tableau was given the first prize.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das unfurled the Tricolour at second capital Dumka. Speaking on the occasion, Das said the focus of the state government in the 2018-2019 budget was on five points, including increasing the income of rural families, women empowerment and generating employment.

Republic Day was celebrated in schools, colleges, offices and at other places with enthusiasm across the state.
