Moodbidri, Jan 26: Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to honor the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. To commemorate the triumph on a meaningful and colorful note, Alva’s Education Foundation organized Republic Day festivity at Smt Vanajakshi K Shripathi Bhat amphitheatre, on Friday, at Puthige, here.

Patriotic fervor pervaded the atmosphere as students, decked in colors of the National Flag, lined up at the venue with miniature flags in hand. Every corner of the venue was graced with vibrance, enthusiasm and bathed in the colors of saffron, white and green. Every face was a unique representative of patriotism and love toward India.

The special attraction of the day's festivity was the presence of former servicemen of the Indian Army gathered to witness the proceedings with utmost pride and honor. At the very outset, the march past by various NCC contingents of Army, Navy, Air Wing, Scouts and Guides, Rovers and Rangers from Bengaluru, Madikeri, Udupi, Moodbidri marked the beginning with their swing and sharp uniforms displaying their crucial role in nation building in a spectacular fashion. More than 1,200 cadets proved NCC's synonymity with discipline, sheer dignity and command.

Students were dressed in T-shirts of the colors of the national flag and were made to stand in such a way that from an aerial view resembled ‘INDIA’ in textual form. The tricolors were designed in cylindrical forms that stood 20 feet high and 6 feet wide marked the entire circumference of the ground, within which the crowd of 35,000 saluted the Indian national flag. Flags, umbrellas, caps and t-shirts bearing the tricolors were waved during the rendition of the integration song, 'Koti Kantose'.

After unfurling the national flag, Dr Vinay Hegde, chairman, Nitte Group of Institutions, expressing his astonishment said he was amazed by the type of discipline and grand celebration by the staff and students of Alva's Education Foundation. This institution is a perfect example for people to emulate for all those who are supposed to be educated, cultured and disciplined. "In these 69 years, many good things have happened. India is rapidly expanding in terms of industry and economy, but the moral values are going down. The most important thing is to develop a kind of personality the country will be proud of. The aim is to inculcate character and religious cordiality, without which our country cannot prosper," he said. He signed off with high hopes of great professional success for India.

Alva’s Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva, trustee Vivek Alva and staff of the various instituitions of AEF were present on the occasion.
