The education department had, through a circular issued on July 21, 2008 said that teachers should not be deputed for election related work. He said, that the election commission in the above letter, gave clear guidelines on how the services of teachers could be utilized after school hours and during holidays. After School hours and during holidays? Are they not entitled to rest after School hours like any other humans? Will it not amount to exploitation like bonded labourers who hacve to do 24x7x365 duties. Will it not affect their teaching abilities next day in Schools? I wonder whether the interpretaion will do justice to the Court decision.
