Puttur: Illegal Liquor Manufacturing Unit Raided, One Arrested

Puttur, Jul 30: A police team led by assistant superintendent of police Abhishek Goel raided a house located at a nearby village on Tuesday July 29 morning, and unearthed a unit engaged in illegally manufacturing liquor for marketing under different brand names.

The police team, which raided the residence of Vedanath Suvarna, Narimogeru CA Bank vice-president, located at Kodankiri Darkas in Narimogeru village and arrested him. They confiscated 50 bottles of whiskey bearing the brand name 'Super Jack Classic Whiskey' found in a plastic bag in the pick up jeep parked at the courtyard of this house.

During their search operations inside the house, the policemen found that a duplicate liquor manufacturing unit was functioning from the house. A total of 29 whiskey bottles of 180 ml each, bottle seal punching machine, lables in the name of Karnataka Excise Commissioner, three gunny bags full of empty bottles, 4.5 kilograms of spurious toddy manufacturing powder and 370 litres of spirit solution were among the goods confiscated by the policemen, totally valued at Rs 1.67 lac.

Elk found: The policemen also found an young elk being looked after by Suvarna and registered another case under Wildlife Protection Act against him. After Suvarna was produced in the court in the evening, he was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

The ASP was supported by Kushalappa Gowda, Gopal M, Suresh Rai, Chamachandra, G Krishnappa, Prasanna Kumar, Kushalappa and others during the raid.
