Mangaluru, Jan 29: Orientation and inauguration of World Youth Parliament Mangaluru, was organised by St Aloysius College in association with Idente Youth with the theme ‘Interpersonal relationship-keys for new civilization’ ‘A journey called forgiveness’. The programme was held at Fr Robert Sequiera Hall of LCRI block.
World Youth Parliament is the forum where young people commit themselves to explore the foundation and bases of a new society and to propose guidelines which, not without abnegation and effort, mark out a challenge and way of life which leads to more just society.
Dr Luis Casasus, associate professor, ETSII of Polytechnic University of Madrid,Spain and vice president of Idente Youth Foundation was the chief guest, Dr A M Narahari, registrar, St Aloysius College (autonomous) was the guest of honour, Fr Dr Melwyn S Pinto, vice-principal of the college presided over the inaugural ceremony, Anup Denzil Veigas, the staff co-ordinator, and Roshan Melwyn Lobo, student co-ordinator were present.
Dr A M Narahari addressed the gathering about the work of the youth in the nation building and the perception and expectation of the society along with inculcating values of humanity.
Fr Dr Melwyn S Pinto in his presidential address said, “Our society has not made the best use of youth power and through World Youth Parliament we can make the youth aware and more conscious towards the society.”
The plenary session of World Youth Parliament was conducted by Fr Ronald Veigas, secretary, youth commission, Shimoga. He stressed about responsiveness and responsibility of youth as a member of society. By raising concerns over the high suicide rates he stressed upon the universal culture of love and life. He also gave the brief idea about the structure of world youth parliament and the Magna Carta-the keys for new civilization, which was discussed in UN headquarters in New York in 2010. He spoke about the constructive spirituality where each and every one belongs to Universal family with humanity.
Dr Luis Casasus addressed the participants of the parliament and said, “Changes in the world can be done through experiences, urbanisation and technical advancement is the reason for losing our family values. The youth can make a difference in the society that was initiated by Fernando Rielo by the World Youth Parliament project. Relationship is always a mystery and it is not negative and that is the power of innocence. By giving and doing little things with humble generosity and by building a bridge called forgiveness, we can build the better human relationship with others.”
All the participants of World Youth Parliament Mangaluru were divided into commissions to share their personal experiences, opinion and decisions in ‘A journey called forgiveness’.
Delegates participated enthusiastically and each commission came out with a presentation which was presented in front of all the delegates by the secretaries of each commission. The output of this discussion was formed into a manifesto and it was signed by all the delegates and handed over to the representative of the national office.
For the valedictory ceremony Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, secretary, youth commission Mangaluru and Fr Ronald Veigas, secretary youth commission, Shimoga were the chief guests,the ceremony was presided over by Fr Alphonse Fernandes, campus minister, St Aloysius College, appreciated the efforts of the organisers for organising such an event for the first time in Mangaluru. The guests were felicitated on behalf of the management. As many as 150 delegates from the colleges of Karnataka and Goa participated in the orientation and inauguration of World Youth Parliament Mangaluru 2018.The programme was compered by Rupal D’Souza and supporting team of Idente community as well as staff co-ordinator Anup Denzil Veigas and student co-ordinator Roshan Melwyn Lobo were present.
