Udupi, Jul 31: Hajabba, feeling frustrated and aggrieved after the fast track court acquitted all the accused of the charges of stripping him and his son Hasanabba naked and parading them in that state has decided to approach the state High Court for justice.
Hajabba from Muloor in the district will be supported by some organizations and relatives in this endeavour. Speaking at his residence at Muloor near Kaup on Wednesday July 30, Hajabba, 65, who has long been running the business of trading in cattle, says that himself and his son are yet to get out of the mental trauma and damage to his dignity he suffered on the fateful day, March 13, 2005. "We could not get justice because of the failure of the public prosecutor and the politics indulged in by the policemen. We will appeal to the High Court against this judgement. We are confident justice will prevail," he said.
"Even after the government entrusted the case to Corps of Detectives to help us get justice, nothing of that kind happened. We want to pursue the case to ensure that such incidents will never recur and the dignity of any person, even if he is my enemy, is never compromised," he said. His family and also his neighbourers are of the opinion that those who heaped humiliation on this father-son duo should be punished.
Hajabba stopped going out of house after the said incident as he is not conversant with any other business. His son Hasanabba has taken to some other business. They continue to suffer from psychological fear that gangs of people might beat them up if they go out for trade, the family members say.
The family says that the promise made by the then district-in-charge minister Jayakumar to provide a government employment to a member of the family has not been fulfilled. "After he visited our house and went away, we have neither seen him nor heard of him, says Hajabba's son Abdul Rehman.
