Srinagar, Jan 31 (Zee News): Sparking controversy, Kashmir Deputy Mufti Azam Nasir-Ul-Islam on Tuesday said that Muslims in India should demand a separate country as they are bound to live in pathetic conditions.

"Muslims are being harassed in India in the name of love jihad, cow vigilantism and what not. The population of Muslims is second largest in India. Pakistan was formed with only 17 crore people. If the Muslims continue to suffer in India, then we will have to form a new country. The Muslim community should ask for a separate country," he said.

Nasir-Ul-Islam further said that the government was not paying heed to the problems of the Muslim community.

"Indian Muslims are living in a pathetic condition. Government is not listening to them. So what is the way out? Way out is to separate from India," he told ANI.

Nasir-Ul-Islam has been the Deputy Mufti Azam since 2000. In 2012, he was nominated by his father and Grand Mufti, Bashir-Ud-Din as his successor to the post in the Supreme Court of Islamic Shariat.

Other Ulemas had endorsed the decision. Also, senior members of the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Personal Law Board were also present on the occasion.

    Indian muslims who chose to stay in India during partition are truely Indians and will stay forever. India is indcredible with rich history of culture. India is powerful, tolerant and peaceful. No matter where we live, India is in our breath..

    Mufti, You may please cross the border if you feel India is not safer for you. In my view, the ruling BJP must and should soften their stance on fake hindutwa, stop dividing people and jail their elected representatives who bark provocative language full of filth just for the sake of votes.

    India wasnt the same like it used to be.. It has to change. The more poison you inject the more unsafe you make for common people..

    Dear Mufti Saab & his supporters- Just go and stay in Pakistan for some time and see the enjoyment before you suggest separate Muslim country. In the meantime just open your eyes and see whats happening in Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Afghan and Pakistan .
    India is a great country and here all religions having freedom to worship and its safer than any other country.

    There is nothing like first and second when it comes to Religion and Nation. You cannot ask to choose between the two. It is as if asking to choose between father and mother. Indian constitution also gives the right to each individual citizen to practice their faith.

    It's a great idea..
    There is a vast barren land between Pakistan and Afghanistan with strict Sharia Laws,
    no expense for girls education !
    no expenses for boys higher education !
    no expenses for modern fashion wear !
    no need of expensive RCC houses !!
    Parliament will be built at Indian's cost on top of Tora Bora mountains !!
    India will bear the transport cost along with, water tents and ration for few months..

    Comparing our country with rest of the world,we are great people because having some minor differences we live very happily sharing our bulk with others and collecting something from others.

    We have hundreds of language,several religion but always unite whenever there is any entry of strangers.
    That's why we call our country " Saare jahaanse accha Hindustan Hamaara.
    For better future, we Indians should reduce our sky reaching population.

    Mufti, shame on you. You should preach love and peace within the religion rather than igniting unrest among our fellow brother and sister's.

    Mufti need to be sent to Somalia or Uganda to fight the political unrest. Don't divide our brothers living harmoniously within India. We Hindu's, Muslims & Christian's brother's and sister's are all Indian's.

    Religion unrest is caused by vote bank politics and not really caused by fellow citizen's. We are all good citizen's and don't need to send any Indian Muslims brother's out of India. They also fought equally for our Independence.

    This Kashmir Mufti is not a representative of Indian Muslims.
    99.9999% Muslims will not agree with this Mufti.
    Mr. Mufti, we are better off in INDIA than any other country.
    In the year 1947 a greedy politician called JINNAH already broke our country and carved out PAKISTAN. See the halat of that country.
    Though we have some misunderstanding between us because of greedy politicians today, 99.9999% Indians are good whatever their religions are, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhist, Jains, Parsis and all others.
    This Mufti must have got some "Haddi" from the neighboring country to kick start unrest in India.
    However, No one can take away my Identity as I N D I A. Mufti bhi nahi, Uska baap bhi nahi.

    You are under some kind of illusion. You must check the facts.
    There is a little increase in the Muslim population in India in last 60 years.
    The reasons are various. One of the reason is, Most Muslims marry at a right time where as others not.
    In a span of 100 years, Muslim would have 4 - 5 generations, whereas, others would have only 3 generations. Also fertility rate if a factor. Change the trend, you will see Hindu population grow.
