Kasargod: Ganja trade - man gets 16 years jail term

Kasargod, Jan 31: A court here has sentenced a person who was caught with 110 kg ganja, to 16 years of rigorous imprisonment and fine of two lac rupees. The man held guilty in this case happens to he Muhammed Usman from Talangare Honnemoole in the district.

At the same time, the court has absolved other accused, Sapuka alias Safriya, resident of Talangare Teruvat Car Street, and Saneesh alias Kannan from Idukki, who are the other accused in the case.

Police personnel of the town station here had arrested Muhammed Usman and confiscated 110 kg ganja from his possession, after finding that the banned substance was being taken in an auto rickshaw to the quarters at Teruvath on March 20, 2013. On the basis of information provided by him, three more were arrested. Another accused named in the case had passed away during the pendency of the case.
