People of Rajasthan have rejected BJP: Rahul

New Delhi, Feb 2 (IANS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said his party's victory in the Rajasthan bypolls was a rejection of the ruling BJP by the people of the state.

In a tweet, he also congratulated the party workers in Rajasthan.

"Well done Rajasthan Congress! Proud of each and every one of you. This is a rejection of the BJP by the people of Rajasthan," Gandhi said.

The Congress on Thursday won the Mandalgarh Assembly seat and Ajmer and Alwar Lok Sabha seats, wresting all three seats from the BJP.

The good showing of the party in Rajasthan comes after it put up a doughty show in the Gujarat assembly polls.

Congress communications incharge Randeep Singh Surjewala said the "results were like a mirror for 2019 (Lok Sabha) polls".

"The BJP has not won any parliamentary bypoll since demonetisation and flawed roll out of GST (Goods and Services Tax)," he said.

Congress won by margin of 80,000, 1,20,000 ( or 1,00,000?)and 12,000 respectively in Ajmer, Alwar and Mandalgarh.

Interesting thing was that congress won in Mandalgarh even after a rebel congress candidate managed to get 22% of votes.
