Udupi, Aug 2: Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Math meditated for two hours under the sea at Malpe, near here from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on Friday, August 1, to create awareness about the need for conservation of the environment.
Office-bearers of the anti-special economic zone struggle committee, save Kodachadri struggle committee, Hindu Janajagriti Vedike, and Sri Rama Sena, assisted the Swamiji with the meditation.
Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji prostrated before Sri Laxmivarateerta Swamiji of Shiroor Math at Odambanda Balarama temple, Malpe, before venturing into the sea. Sri Esha Swamiji said that wishes would be granted by God by meditating on the auspicious occasion of the solar eclipse and ‘Aati Amavasye’ which also fell on Friday.
Meditations on this auspicious occasion has been undertaken with the objective of saving the coastal area from the threat of terrorism, and threats from multi-national companies to the soil and water bodies of the region by acquiring pristine land and rampant mining. These activities endanger the fragile eco-environment which should exist in harmony with mankind without hindering helpful insects, wildlife, birds, and other species of vegetation.
Hitesh, Kumaraswamy, Vasudev Bhat, and Shivanand Prabhu, were present on the occasion.
