Teenage girl raped by ‘Facebook friend’ in movie theatre

Secunderabad, Feb 3: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her boyfriend at a cinema hall in Secunderabad on January 29.

The police have arrested Kandakatla Bhikshapathi (23) a JCB operator from Nermetta of Janagaon district in Telangana on charges of rape and he has been remanded in judicial custody.

The girl became acquainted with Bhikshapathi through Facebook a few months back and met him for the first time in January at Swathi hotel near Secunderabad railway station. Bhikshapathi took the girl to his sister's place located in Jagadgirigutta area.

The girl again met Bhikshapathi on January 29 at the same hotel and spent some time with him at Indira Park. Later, they decide to watch Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat 'at Prashant Theater in Secunderabad.

According to Police inspector M Mattaiah from Market Police Station, Bhikshapathi finding very few people in the balcony of the theater, raped the girl.

The girl informed the matter to her parents and registered a complaint. The Market police registered a case under section 376 IPC against Bhikshapati. He was arrested on 1 February. The police will also be taking action against the move theatre management for negligent behavior and for failing to arrange adequate security.
