Puttur: Cultural fest ‘Kalothsava’ held at St Philomena College

Puttur, Feb 3: On the occasion of diamond jubilee celebrations of the college, Yaksha Kala Kendra, Student Council and Performing Arts Association of St Philomena College organized inter-collegiate cultural fest ‘Kalothsava’ on January 30.

Correspondent of the college Fr Alfred J Pinto inaugurated the fest. Senior Yakshagana Bhagavatha Shri Padyana Ganapathi Bhat participated as the chief guest. Campus director and chairman of centre for PG Studies Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honour. Principal Prof Leo Noronha expressed his best wishes. Secretary of Catholic Board of Education Fr Gerald D’Souza presided over the programme.



Members of Performing Arts Association invoked God’s blessings through a prayer. Convener of ‘Kalothsava’ Prashanth Rai welcomed the gathering. Student welfare officer Bharathi S Rai coordinated the programme. Student welfare officer Dr Vijaya Kumara Moleyar delivered the vote of thanks. Co-convener of Performing Arts Association Rajeshwari M compered the programme.

The valedictory programme of ‘Kalothsava’ was organized in the evening. Alumnus of St Philomena College Shashidhara Palangaya was the chief guest. Campus director and chairman of centre for PG studies Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro and principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo were the guests of honour. Principal Prof Leo Noronha presided over the programme.

The president of Student Council Nixon Joseph welcomed the gathering. The Co-convener of Performing Arts Association Rajeshwari M presented the details of prize winners. Convener of ‘Kalothsava’ Prashanth Rai rendered the vote of thanks. Shreema compered the programme.

The inter-collegiate cultural competition ‘Kalothsava’ consisted of Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, Folk Dance, Kannada Lyrics and Master of Ceremony. Among 14 colleges participated in this programme, Govindadasa College Surathkal bagged the overall championship. Vivekananda College, Puttur secured the first runner-up trophy and SDM College, Ujire secured the second runner-up trophy.
