Udupi, Feb 5: "The health insurance scheme for all is a very noble step taken in budget 2018. The successful implementation of this scheme is also a matter of importance," said senior advocate of Supreme Court of India Firoze B Andhyarujina.

He was the chief guest for ‘CA Y Sudhir Rao Memorial Lecture’ organized by Udupi branch of Southern Indian Regional Council of The Charted Accountants of India. He said, "Identifying the real poor beneficiaries for the health insurance scheme is also a tough task. Paying 12% of Employees Provident Fund to the new employees by the government is a good step. As many as 51 lac houses for poor are also planned. In total, this budget is a populist budget."

"The main characteristic of 2018 budget is that its farmer centric. Though agriculture is a state subject, the central government is enforcing its policies upon the state government. Farmers’ productivity of land should be increased by providing irrigation facilities. The budget has also given priority to education especially for girls. Statistics of survey conducted by Human Resource Department shows that 40% of rural children below the age of 6 years are deprived of education.

Commenting on Adhaar he said, "Government should take steps for protecting the personal Adhaar data of citizens. Adhaar should be used with caution and diligence. If the data is misused, the outcome will be dangerous.”

CA Sharath Rao, son of CA Y Sudhir Rao speaking on the occasion said, “The budget is tilted towards the poor and not business friendly. It is very charitable to senior citizens.”

New CA's of Udupi region who successfully cleared the final examinations in 2017 were felicitated during the occasion.

CA Narasimha Nayak, CA Rekha Devanand, CA Surendra Nayak and other charted accountants of Udupi region were present.
