Mangaluru: Nine-day novena begins in preparation of Relic of St Anthony feast

Mangaluru, Feb 7: The nine-day novena in preparation for the feast of Relic of St Anthony began with the hoisting of St Anthony’s flag at Milagres Church grounds.

The decorated statue of St Anthony was taken in procession from St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu to Milagres Church via Kankanady and Falnir. Many vehicles of devotees were taken in procession. There afterwards Fr Franklin D’Souza hoisted the flag of St Anthony.



Fr Franklin D’Souza, director of Family Counselling, Shivamogga offered the Holy Mass for the intention of religious who are working for the Kingdom of God in various parts of the world. In his homily, Fr Franklin said that the religious are the co-workers of Jesus Christ who have dedicated themselves for His cause.

Fr Onil D’Souza, director of the shrine, led the first day of novena prayers. Fr Francis D’Souza, administrator, Fr Peter Gonsalves, Fr Vipin, Vincent Mascarenhas and more than thousand people were present.
