Mangalore: 'Say No to Plastic Flags' - Minister Krishna J Palemar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Aug 4: Public awareness needs to be created against the use of the national flag made of plastic material. Citizens should voluntarily stop using plastic flags, advised Dakshina Kannada (DK) district-in-charge-minister Krishna J Palemar.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the proposed government PU college being built at Suratkal, at a cost of Rs 22 lac.

Government officials had failed delivering government facilities to rural regions located in Mangalore north assembly constituency which was in the past known as Suratkal constituency. With help from private enterprises, house-to-house survey will be conducted next month to set right this imbalance, he said.

Mulki-Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain, who presided over the function, asserted that he always supports people-friendly schemes. On this occasion, he also declared that he will not allow nine villages which are under Mangalore taluk now, to be transferred to Moodbidri taluk when a new taluk is carved out, as they have opted to remain under Mangalore taluk because of convenience.

DK zilla panchayat president Sucharita Shetty, member Shaila Sequeira, MRPL community development department officer Yatiraj D Salian etc., were present.

MRPL has promised to provide three rooms for the college while the deputy director of Land Army Corporation promised to complete the building within the next six months.
