Udupi: Chikungunya Awareness Camp held at Kolalgiri

Udupi, Aug 4: Kamala A Baliga charitable Trust, Mumbai and Dr A V Baliga Hospital Doddanagudde, Udupi organized Chikungunya Awareness Camp in association with Sacred Heart of Jesus church and Sriganesh clinic, Kolalgiri Parish, Yuva Vichara Vedike Kolalgiri, Geleyara Balaga, Sinchana Nodal Continuing Education Centre, Lakshminaragara and Sneha Sports Club Havanje at Sowharda Sabha Bhavan Kolalgiri, the Kolalgiri parish hall on Sunday August 3, 2008.

The camp was inaugurated and presided over by Kolalgiri parish priest Fr Jerome Monteiro who in his message, called upon the people to start affectively fighting chikungunya before it leaves a trail of destruction, delivering a terrible blow to the developmental plans of the nation.

The presidents of all the above mentioned associations were present on the occasion.

Dr Shashikiran Shetty, medical practitioner of Sriganesh clinic Kolalgiri, took over a major share of the responsibilities in organizing this camp. Retired district surgeon Dr Chandrashekhar Shanbhogue, Dr Krishna and Dr Prasad Shetty imparted all the information regarding chikungunya disease.

At the end, preventive homeopathic medicine was distributed among the people. About 500 people benefited by this camp.
