Mangalore: AIBOA Calls for Nation-wide Bank Strike on August 20

Mangalore, Aug 4:
Bank employees should be ready to stage an aggravated protest against the proposed merger of banks and privatization, appealed K Vishwanath Naik, chief secretary, All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) Karnataka committee, on Sunday, August 3.
 
He was speaking at the inaugural of a convention of bank officers organized by AIBOA Dakshina Kannada district committee, at the auditorium of Karnataka Bank Employees Association.  The association has called for a nation-wide bank strike on Wednesday, August 20, opposing the union government’s proposal to merge banks.

Accusing the government of promoting anti-people banking policy, Naik urged all bank employees to join the protest. AIBOA senior leader P S Sundareshan, in his keynote address, said that presently the banking industry in the country is seeing tough times.
 
P R Karant, chief secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Bank Employees Federation, and Satish Kini, AIBOA district committee leader, were also present on the occasion. K Raghav, chief secretary, Karnataka Bank Officers Association, welcomed the gathering.
