Karkala: Man who attacked wife, mutilated her limbs, sent to judicial custody

Karkala, Feb 8: Santhosh Poojary (27), who had fled after inflicting lethal injuries on his wife, Anushree (23) and who was arrested from Bhatkal, was produced at the court here on Wednesday February 7. The court remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.

Santhosh had mutilated the legs and hands of his wife after attacking her from behind on a deserted stretch of road at Kukkudadi Hermunde near her parental home on January 27 when she was returning home from work. He had disappeared from the scene and was arrested from Bhatkal on February 6 by district crime intelligence bureau and handed over to Ajekar police station, where a case has been registered against him.

As the district prison at Hiriyadka is under repairs, he has been sent to the district prison at Karwar.
