Karkala: ICYM unit of St Joseph Church, Belman celebrate annual day

Karkala, Feb 9: The ICYM unit of St Joseph Church, Belman celebrated their annual day on the February 3 in the church ground premises.

With the sun setting down, they commenced their formal programme by evoking God’s blessings. The chief guest for the day was Fr Sunil Veigas, parish priest, Alangar Church. Sharon Mathias, the ICYM president welcomed the dignitaries on and off the dais and the parishioners present. A small report about the activities conducted and the activities to be conducted by the ICYM unit was presented by the ICYM Secretary.



Fr Sunil Veiga, addressing the youth mentioned how he was very much impressed by the work done by the ICYM youth, Belman, he also blessed all the youth for their future. Assistant director of ICYM, Belman, and Fr Melwyl Roy Lobo who is the backbone of ICYM, Belman praised the initiative and spirit of the youth. In the presidential remarks Fr Edwin D’souza, parish priest, Belman and ICYM director, Belman, who is a motivation to the youth of Udupi diocese, congratulated the youth.

Fr Sunil Veigas, Fr Edwin D’souza and Fr Melwyl Roy Lobo were felicitated. A list of all the sponsors was presented. Nivita Cardoza who has achieved a lot in the field of sports was honored by the priests, and Sharline D’Sa, the ICYM president, Udupi diocese were also honored. Denzil D’Souza, who directed the drama that was to be performed in the evening after the formal programme, was also honored.

The formal programme came to an end after which the cultural programme began in which the Belman youth showcased their talents. The youth performed a traditional Konkani song ‘Gumta’, a Bollywood dance, Konkani dance, still dance by the boys, a small skit, mashup song and a drama that was appreciated and loved by all the parishioners present. The programme was a great success with each hand helping to create a strong base for such a day.
