Bangalore, Aug 5: C Chennigapa, the selfproclaimed "servant" of Janata Dal(Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda, is the latest catch in the BJP's net.
Thanks to the compulsions of realpolitik associated with the election of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, former minister Chennigappa has come out in the open about his next move.
Terming Gowda "anti-Hindu", Chennigappa on Monday said the former Prime Minister's cheap politics and appeasement of minorities forced him to move out of the JD(S). Referring to his claims of being Gowda's loyal servant, Chennigappa said, "Yes, I was his loyal servant.
But that was when Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy practised clean politics. Now, they have changed; so have I. Gowda is no Sriram, and I am no longer his Hanuman."
Chennigappa also said that he was not the only one disillusioned with Gowda's politics. "Many legislators are contemplating quitting the JD(S).
They will come out in the open very soon," he claimed. Chennigappa said that he would take a final decision on joining the BJP along with his son Gaurishankar, who represents Madhugiri in the Legislative Assembly, after meeting with party workers and supporters on August 21.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and BJP state president Sadananda Gowda have already held preliminary talks with Chennigappa.
