1 killed in Libya mosque explosion

Tripoli, Feb 9 (IANS): An explosion hit a mosque in the Libyan city Benghazi on Friday, killing a worshipper and injuring 55 others, authorities said.

"Explosive bags exploded inside the Sa'ad Bin-Abada mosque in Majuri as worshippers were performing Friday prayers," Colonel Milud Zwai, a spokesman for the eastern-based Army's special forces, told Xinhua news agency.

He said according to preliminary investigations, the bombing was carried out remotely.

Benghazi, which has been controlled by the Libyan Army after terrorist groups were eliminated from the city in late 2017, is witnessing an escalation of bombings particularly on mosques.
