India will take care of Palestinians' interests: PM Modi on historic visit

New Delhi, Feb 10 (Deccan Chronicle): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas that India was bound to take care of the interests of Palestinian people.

"India hopes that soon Palestine will come a free country in a peaceful manner," he said.

"We hope for peace and stability in Palestine, we believe a permanent solution is possible with dialogue. Only diplomacy and farsightedness can set free from violence and baggage of the past. We know it is not easy but we need to keep trying as a lot is at stake," he further said.

PM Modi and President Abbas witnessed exchange of agreements between India and Palestine in Ramallah.

President Abbas welcomed Modi on his historic visit to the country stating that Indian leadership has always stood by peace in Palestine.

Asserting that Palestine was ready for to engage in negotiations with India, Abbas said they rely on India's role as an international force and its role in the non-alignment movement for desired peace in the region.

Abbas asserted his commitment to political action and negotiations as means of achieving their national goals to freedom and independence in accordance with the two states' relation along the lines of 1967.

In response, PM Modi thanked Palestine President Abbas for the Grand Collar of the state of Palestine conferred on him.

"This is an honour for India and a symbol of Palestine's friendship," Modi said.

Modi said India and Palestine's relations have stood the test of time. Palestine has always taken a top spot in our foreign policy, he further said.

Speaking on India's contribution to strengthen the bilateral ties, Modi said India is aiding the construction of an Institute of Diplomacy in Palestine.

He also announced doubling the exchange of students from this year taking it from 50 to 100.

This is only like shredding crocodile tears. In one way we are embracing enemy of Palestine and appreciating him for his work (killing of innocent palestinians) and on the other hand we are shaking hand with Palestine giving false promises. This is like betraying and nothing else. Uttering false has crossed the border. But one thing is required to be understood that we can not fool everyone at all times.

Prime Minister Nafrendra Modi's recent visit to Palestine is a wise move that will foster greater relations not only with Palestine but also with Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Nethanyahu had recently visited India and had solidified the relations between both the countries. This close dialog of India with Israel aa well as Palestine will help India to maintain close relations that will in turn bring greater peace and stability throughout the region.

Israel planning to transfer their Capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is another crucial as well as an important issue. India has to move their Embassy from Tel Aviv to whichever place they move, and therefore India's close relations with Palestine will boost closer understanding for future benefit.

India's diplomacy is therefore very valuable in the Israel/Palestine future relations, and India can be a good mediator for both the nations.

Thank you, Mr. Modi for your timely visit to Palestine and your close dialog with Prime Minister Abbas who is in a difficult position at present.

Nethanyahu visited India to revive the ,$ 500m defense deal which was cancelled. As for shifting embassies when/if Israeli capital is shifted, it's natural for all countries' capitals in Israel to shift not just India, there's no big deal. But recently when US endorsed this shifting move, only some seven nameless nations supported US move. India though tried to play fence sitter, had to join the majority eventually and we all remember how Trump administration responded to that.

Modiji you are doing a great job but what about the Indian Muslims... You dont utter a word against a word to your own partymen who sometimes preach hate on Muslims or other minorities, is taht you are nervous or just wanting sympathy from Indian muslims by visiting Palestine, or the other gulf countries. Iam with you if religion is kept aside and if we go forward as Indians

The Israel-Palestine conflict can never be peaceful like how peaceful our Kashmir is. Dear PM, first solve our own distorted peace within our country then talk for others. People are not interested in Bhashans or jumla games. We believe in reality. Wasting tax payers money for these overseas visits.
