Beltangady: Car carrying pilgrims dives into gorge - nine injured

Beltangady, Feb 13: A car carrying pilgrims from Koppal district on Sunday February 11 late night dived into a 60-feet gorge at Charmadi second road bend. In this incident, nine persons were injured.

Those who suffered serious injuries in this incident were Sridhar (38) from Katargi village of Gangavathi taluk, Koppal district, who was driving the car and Tejaswini (9). Both stand admitted into a private hospital at Kakkinje for treatment. The others had only suffered minor injuries. A case about the incident was registered at Dharmasthala police station.

Mundaje gram panchayat member, Abdul Hajeed, Hashim Kajur, Basheer, Hameed Ujire and Ummer Mundaje, coming from Bengaluru by car close behind the above car, immediately jumped into action and rescued the injured with the help of a rope. Their timely help ensured that more loss was not suffered.
