Udupi, Aug 6: It is the prime duty of every Indian citizen to have reasonable knowledge of sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the history of post-Independence era. NCC has been significant in contributing personnel to the armed forces. Therefore, youth are expected to undergo effective training, for us to retain our freedom, said K K Pai, registrar, Manipal Academy of General Education, recently.
He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the training and selection camp of NCC naval wing, which was held at the Town Hall. The programme was presided over by Dr H Shantaram, administration officer, Manipal Academy of General Education.
Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions. Camp commandant Uday Krishna Menon read the report. Camp commandant Dr K Narayan Poojary proposed the vote of thanks. Various cultural programmes were later performed by NCC cadets.
