Udupi: Padmapriya Unnatural Death Case - Atul's Custody Extended

Udupi, Aug 7: Through an order issued on Wednesday August 6, chief civil judge's court has extended the judicial custody of Atul Rao, main accused in the case pertaining to the sudden disappearance and subsequent death of Padmapriya, wife of MLA K Raghupati Bhat, upto August 20. Atul's bail was to expire on Wednesday August 6. Advocates representing Atul Rao said that Atul was not present at the court on Wednesday too, because of ill health.

The advocates also said that the court has ordered for the conditional release of a car belonging to a person named Joseph Chacko, which had been seized by the policemen in connection with the case.

In the meanwhile, Corps of Detectives (CoD) policemen arrived in the city on Wednesday and started their investigations into the death of Padmapriya. CoD investigating officer DySP Govindaiah and inspector Lakshminarayan visited Manipal police station in the morning on Wednesday, verified the records connected with the case and took away the file pertaining to the case.
