Puttur: Inter-collegiate economics fest ‘ECOZENITH’ held at SPC

Puttur, Feb 20: The post graduate department of Economics of St Philomena College in association with Mangalore University Economics Association organized an inter-collegiate economics fest ‘ECOZENITH 2018’ on February 16 in the college auditorium.

Campus director and chairperson of Centre for PG Studies of the College Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro inaugurated ‘ECOZENITH 2018’ and in his address said, “Science and Arts are the two subjects which are equal in their importance. Science can help in tackling the global challenges that we face. Arts are a subject of creativity and happiness. It includes a vast array of different subjects. It is the greatest science which is valuable for humanity and society.”

President of Mangalore University Economics Association Dr K Shivashakara Bhat participated as the chief guest. He said, “In the present day scenario, marks cards alone will not serve the purpose. Students must seriously think about the promotion of their competitive strength.”



Principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo also graced the occasion.

Pavithra G was felicitated for securing first rank in post graduate studies in Economics from Mangalore University during the academic year 2016-17.

Principal Prof Leo Noronha presided over the programme. The faculty members of the department Dr Manjula B C, Pradeep K S, Mahitha Kumari M and convener Sandhya H were present in this programme.

Jayashri and Kavya presented the prayer song. Coordinator of the department Prof Dinakara Rao welcomed the gathering. Student president Rakesh Naik K rendered the vote of thanks. B T Sowmya compered the programme.

The valedictory programme of ‘ECOZENITH 2018’ was held in the evening. The secretary of Mangalore University Economics Association Prof Harish Acharya P participated as the chief guest. Principal Prof Leo Noronha graced the occasion. Campus director and chairperson of Centre for PG Studies Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro presided over the programme. Coordinator Prof Dinakara Rao, assistant professor Mahitha Kumari M and student president Rakesh Naik K were present on the occasion.

Students from 22 colleges under UG section and the students from three PG study centres affiliated to Mangalore University have participated in various events.

University College, Mangaluru bagged the overall championship and Pompei College Aikala, Kinnigoli secured the runners-up trophy of ‘ECOZENITH 2018’.

Pavithra welcomed the gathering. Assistant professor Pradeep K S presented the list of prize winners. Convener Sandhya H rendered the vote of thanks. Shobitha compered the programme.
