Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds intercollegiate fest ‘Amalgam’

Mangaluru, Feb 20: The department of Psychology, St Agnes College for Post Graduate Studies and Research, organized ‘Amalgam 2018’, an interdisciplinary and intercollegiate fest on the February 19.

Amalgam is the arena where amalgamation of the diverse branches of human science transpired. The department was honored and pleased to offer this colossal platform to exhibit the vibrancy and zeal of caliber. The fest commenced with an inaugural ceremony at 9.30 a.m. The dais was decorated with distinguished guests, Dr M Y Manjula, professor and dean of department of Psychology, SDM College, Ujire; Sr Dr Jeswina, principal of St Agnes College; Dr Noeline Pinto, the PG coordinator St Agnes Center for Post Graduate Studies and Research, Sr M Vinora, principal of Clinical Psychology, staff convenor Sunaina and student convenor Nikki Veronica.



Dr M Y Manjula emphasized on the amalgamation of reflection, exercise and good food with self-awareness achieved through a balance of physical, cognitive and emotional aspects of human being in her keynote speech. It was followed by Sr Dr Jeswina’s presidential address. The logo was unveiled, and the fest was declared open by Dr M Y Manjula along with the dignitaries on the dais. The programme came to an end with the college anthem.

Amalgam an intercollegiate fest was participated by nine colleges which were, Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru; Sree Narayana Guru college of Arts and Science, Coimbatore; Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute, Shimoga; School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal; SDM PG College, Ujire; Roshini Nilaya School of Social Work, Mangaluru; St Aloysius College, Mangaluru and St Agnes UG College, Mangaluru. The events conducted were as follows, ‘En-Psychlopedia (Quiz)’, ‘My theory’, ‘POIESIS (versification, poetry)’, ‘Meraki (face painting’, ‘Maquette (working model)’, ‘Manochitran (street play)’ and ‘Zone-move your feet with the flow’.

The overall trophy was bagged by Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru, and the runner’s up by SDM PG College, Ujire.

The fest concluded with the valedictory programme and Dr Shweta Rai, associate professor, department of Clinical Psychology, School of Allied Health Science, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, was the esteemed chief guest along with Dr Noeline Pinto, the PG coordinator, St Agnes P G Center, Sr M Vinora, principal of Clinical Psychology, staff convenor Sunaina and student convenor Najeeha.
