M'lore: Oil Leakage in Goods Train Tanker Leads to Panic at Padil

Mangalore, Aug 9: Tension prevailed for few hours in goods railways station at Padil, after a leakage was detected in one of the tankers in a goods train on Friday August 8.

The goods train was plying from MRPL in the city to Bangalore, carrying highly inflammable petroleum products. The leakage came to light when the train reached Padil goods railway station in the city. The train was stopped at the station immediately and emergency arrangements were made to avoid any risk.

Fire fighters from Hindustan Petroleum and fire brigade department rushed the spot immediately after receiving the information and took necessary precautionary steps. The train started its onward journey after the leakage was plugged by the experts deputed by the oil company. It took nearly three hours for the concerned to stop leakage of oil from the tanker, sources informed.
