New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS): In an unequivocal warning to real estate major Amrapali, the Supreme Court on Thursday told it to either hand over the possession of flats in its Leisure Valley project on time or be ready to head to jail.
A bench of Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Amitava Roy said: "We are concerned about the buyers' interest. If the developer doesn't keep the interest of the buyers and hand over the flats on time, we will send them to jail."
Asking it to complete the project on time, the court directed the next hearing on March 27 to review the progress of the work on 19 towers comprising 1,665 flats.
The court permitted the firm to give an undertaking that it would complete the project on time as it allowed it to rope in 13 developers as sought by it.
Amrapali on Thursday gave the details of its 10 projects comprising 10,647 flats. It gave the schedule of the flats it can deliver in the next 12 months.
