Mangaluru: Seminar on solar energy to be held at St Agnes College on Mar 2, 3

Mangaluru, Feb 28: A two-day national level seminar-cum-workshop on ‘Utilization of Solar Energy for Power Generation – Greennxt’ will be held by the departments of Economics and Physics of St Agnes College at the college conference hall on March 2 and 3.

Addressing media at press club, Sr Jeswina, principal, St Agnes College said, “The aim of the seminar is to create awareness on solar power. We want the public in Mangaluru and the neighboring ring towns to go for solar energy and to reduce carbon footprint.

“A country which enjoys unlimited sunlight all through the year can use solar energy spread the availability of power and its benefits to every remote corner of India. The greatest advantage of solar energy is the fact it is clean, renewable and virtually inexhaustible.

“Environmental problem is one of the major concerns that our world facing today. We need to go green to save our planet earth and promote self-sustainability and self-sufficiency. Our aim should be to promote greener and cleaner and healthier environment.

“For economic and environmental reasons, India needs to shift to non-polluting renewable sources of energy to meet the future demand for electricity. We believe that in educating the young people and initiating small projects will go a long way to make our nation self sufficient in energy scarcity.

“The managing director of KREDL, Bengaluru, G V Balaram will inaugurate the seminar. MLA J R Lobo, Ivan D’Souza, chief whip, Legislative council and Capt Ganesh Karnik, chief whip, opposition Legislative council, will be the guests of honour.

“During the seminar, there will be five different sessions on solar energy and its uses expects in this field will guide the participants about solar energy and finance options for this project. Besides this, companies like Sunray, Vikramsolar, Delta, Enphase, Solaredge, Sunmatric, and Refusol will come and demonstrate about the rooftop projects and give awareness and knowledge on solar power. People those who have already used this energy will share their experience.

“The valedictory of the seminar will be held on March 3 at 1.00 pm,” she said.

Co-convener and HOD of Economics Dr Venissa and others were present.
