New Delhi, Mar 2 (DHNS): India and Jordan on Thursday inked 12 pacts after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held parleys for King Abdullah II the ruler of the West Asian nation.

The pacts included a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote defence cooperation between India and Jordan.

The MoU provides for cooperation between India and Jordan in areas like training, defence industry, counter-terrorism, military studies, cyber security, military medical services and peacekeeping.

The other pacts included an agreement for visa waiver for diplomatic and official passport holders, a cultural exchange programme, a manpower cooperation agreement, an MoU for - cooperation in the field of health and medicine between India and Jordan, setting up of the next generation Centre of Excellence (COE) in Jordan, long-term supply of rock phosphate and fertilizer and an agreement for mutual customs cooperation.

It also included an MoU for cooperation between Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and Jordan Media Institute (JMI), an MoU between Prasar Bharati and Jordan TV, a twining agreement between Agra and Petra (Jordan) and an MoU between University of Jordan (UJ) ICCR regarding setting up of a Hindi Chair at the University.
