Mangaluru, Mar 4: In an accident between a crane and a bus which happened near Bykampady in the outskirts of the city on Saturday March 3, four persons suffered serious injuries and were admitted into a private hospital in the city. Out of the injured, one happens to be an international level power lifter.
The power lifter injured in this unfortunate accident was Vishwanath Bhaskar Ganiga from Kundapur. The other three are Maneesh, Varun, and Manjunath. They were travelling to Udupi from the direction of the city when the accident happened.
It is said that when the bus, which was moving to Kundapur from Bengaluru, was moving towards Udupi, the crane suddenly entered the highway and its hook got stuck into the bus. The crane, which was driven by Jaison Steevan Crasta from the direction of Jokatte towards Bykmapady dragged the bus for some distance, inflicting injuries on passengers sitting on the right hand side of the bus.
Vishwanath Bhaskar Ganiga (27)from Balikeri in Delkunda villalge in Kundapur taluk ,who had bagged gold medal in Commonwealth Games held in Africa and silver medal in the power lifting championship organized in Jammu and Kashmir recently, became unconscious after suffering grave injuries to his ears and head. He stands admitted into A J Hospital here.
A case about the accident was registered in the traffic police station at Suratkal.
