Bhatkal, Mar 12: In an tragic bike accident that occured on national highway 66 near Shiroor, the rider of the bike lost his life, while his friend who was riding pillion is severely injured.

The deceased person is identified as Abdul Raqeeb (25), son of Abdul Lateef, a resident of Chawtani in Bhatkal. His friend Abu Mohammed (22) is the one who is seriously injured.

It is learnt that both were going to Trasi on the night of Sunday, March 11 to buy fish. What caused the accident is not clear as no one was aware of this accident. A woman alerted the locals on the morning of Monday, March 12, as she saw the bike and two people have fallen down the bridge near Shiroor. Later it was identified that both the persons on the bike are from Bhatkal.

It is gathered that Abdul Raqeeb, the rider of the bike, who got killed in the accident has got major injury to his head and there is a suspicion that a car or truck might have rammed into the bike.

Abu Mohammed, who is severely injured is shifted to a hospital in Kundapur.

People suspect that this must be a hit and run case or the bike must have fallen from the bridge due to loss of control while plying in high speed.

The body of the deceased person is kept in Byndoor government hospital and will be handed over to the family after post mortem.

Byndoor police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating further to know the exact cause of the mishap.
