UP tops the list of communal violence hit states in 2017: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 14 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh topped the list of states with maximum communal violence incidents in the country last year, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said 822 communal incidents took place in the country in 2017, whereas as many as 703 such incidents occurred in 2016 and 751 incidents in 2015.

Among the states where the highest number of such cases took place in 2017 include Uttar Pradesh (195 incidents) followed by Karnataka (100), Rajasthan (91), Bihar (85), Madhya Pradesh (60) besides others, he said in reply to a written question.

In 2016 also, the highest number of communal violence cases was reported from Uttar Pradesh (162 incidents) followed by Karnataka (101), Maharashtra (68), Bihar (65), Rajasthan (63) among others.

"The incidents are reported to be attributed to religious factors, land and property disputes, gender-related offences, social media related issues and other miscellaneous factors," Ahir said.

    Complimenting themselves, the Central Government has revealed lack of governance and Raj Dharma in UP. A State which gave the BJP highest number of seats nearly 75 seats is now poor in governance. Congratulations to Modi-Amit Shah-Yogi combined for your achievement.

    wow!! this is called yogis development :-D haha....and thanks to bjp thugs for all communal violence in Karnataka..without you guys we wouldn't reach the second position...BJP wants us to come in top position that's why he is always doing yathras and rallies and lecturing us on "development"...let him develop his state first....and BJP rules states are on the list...now Mr.Hansraj Gangaram Ahir will get most prestigious title of "anti-national".."bar dancer" or"jihadi" from bakths..
    PS: grab your popcorn and watch cz andh bakths on the way saying siddu was doing communal clashes and protests. :-D

    Wherever it takes place, most unfortunate things happen as a result. Mostly innocent and helpless people suffer the worst. Deep personal losses can never be made up by any subsequent efforts. They must not happen to any human being let be from any religious background. Once blood cools down all realise that it was all futile and served no purpose at all.
