Mumbai, Mar 22: Muniyalu Udaya Krishnayya Shetty has set aside a portion of his earnings for the poor. The Muniyalu Udaya Krishnayya Charitable Trust introduced by him for the welfare of society particularly the poor has indulged in significant service programmes within a short period. The trust is not for publicity or recognition. Some of Shetty's friends are helping him in noble tasks.
Having grown in the background of his father's prestigious business, he does not work solely for profit, but with the realisation that the amount for government contracts comes out of the hard work of people.
The services of the trust include helping those who are in difficulty due to natural causes, health related problems, pain of differently abled, help to the neglected and deserted, identifying talented students among poor families, encouraging them and providing scholarships and monetary help, activities concerning literature, music and spiritual legacy, strengthening youth in the taluk, identifying autorickshaw drivers who work with sincerity, hard work and concern toward the poor, felicitating an autorickshaw driver among them every week with a gift of Rs 5,000.
