Ten killed in UP road accident


Lucknow, Mar 23 (IANS): Ten people were killed and eight others injured when a speeding truck hit a vehicle in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh district on Friday, police said.

The vehicle, headed to Chauharjan Devi temple in Pratapgarh, was carrying 18 people from Jaunpur district. A district official told IANS that six of the injured were in critical condition.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured, an official spokesman said.
