Karnataka Sangha Sharjah Celebrates 62nd Indian Independence Day

Sharjah, Aug 23: Karnataka Sangha Shrajah celebrated the 62nd Indian indepence day in a fitting manner on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Indian Association Auditorium, Sharjah.
Chief guest of the evening Mark Denis D'Souza, patron of the Sangha, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp at 7.30 pm. Advocate Y A Rahim, president, Indian Association Sharjah, was also present on the occasion. He lauded the activities of the Sangha and extended all possible support for future programmes of the Sangha. Dr Shaym Prasad, Managing Director of Gulf Medical Centre Sharjah, conveyed his good wishes and support to the sangha for its activities connected with social service.
"Members are the backbone of the sangha and its activities. You have to encourage people to become members of the sangha to enable the Sangha to conduct more social activities", advised Mark Denis D' Souza to the gathering. Prabhakar Ambalathere, president of the sangha, in more positive way, reviewed the current political situation in the country and urged all Indians to act in the best interests of the nation.
Singing of patriotic songs by young and the old, dances and a skit were lined up later in the evening. The programme concluded with dinner.
The programme was compered by Shantharam Achar and vote of thanks was proposed by Nityananda, general secretary of the sangha.
