Mangaluru: ‘Ravana Dahana’ at Nehru Maidan mesmerizes huge gathering

Mangaluru, Mar 27: A huge gathering of people witnessed ‘Ravana Dahana’ held as part of Sri Ramostava organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Bajarang Dal, and Matra Mandali Durgavahini at Nehru Maidan in the city on Monday, March 26.

‘Ravana Dahana’ at Nehru Maidan was celebrated in a grand manner with the bursting of crackers which were set afire along with the idol of Ravana with an arrow fired by the person playing the character of Rama.

Before ‘Ravana Dahana’, a procession was taken out in city with the tableaus of Hanuman and traditional tiger dance.



M B Puranik, Sharan Pumpwell, and Jagadeesh Shenava took the leadership of the programme.

‘Ravana Dahana’ was part of Sri Rama Navami celebrations held to mark the killing of Ravana by Lord Rama on this day as per the epic Ramayana.

The programme began on March 24 with various rituals and cultural events. A temporary temple or ‘Rama Mandira’ was also constructed at the venue.
