New Delhi, Mar 29 (DHNS): Union Minister Ananth Kumar targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi alleging that his "lack of understanding" of nuances of parliamentary procedure has led to the 17-day logjam during the ongoing Budget Session.
"As soon as Rahul Gandhi became Congress president, there has been no productivity of the Congress and there has been no productivity of Parliament. He does not understand the nitty-gritty of parliamentary procedure, which has led to the logjam," the parliamentary affairs minister told reporters here.
Kumar's highly personal attack on Rahul comes at a time when the Congress president has drawn up extensive plans to campaign for the May 12 assembly elections in Karnataka.
The minister said the Congress had earlier sought a short duration discussion on the PNB scam but changed its strategy later and pressed for an Adjournment Motion.
"You are changing the goalposts sir, I am not changing the goal posts," Kumar said.
Kumar said after submitting a notice for moving a no-confidence motion against the government, Congress members had brought placards to the House with numbers written on them.
"According to the parliamentary procedure, bringing and distributing placards in the House is not allowed," the minister said accusing the Congress of turning a serious issue of no-trust motion into a joke.
Kumar also rejected Congress' claims that the government had not reached out to the Opposition to break Parliament deadlock. "We talk to Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad every day," the minister said.
