Davanagere: ‘Modi will harm nation’ - translator’s blunder leaves Amit Shah red-faced

Davanagere, Mar 30: Can you imagine a BJP leader saying publicly that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will not do anything for the downtrodden like Dalits, poor, and backward classes? A BJP leader said so, and also added that Modi will harm the nation. But at the same time, he sought support of the voters for BJP.

This happened at a rally organized by BJP at Challakere in the district on Thursday March 29. Prahlad Joshi, who translated Amit Shah's address, perhaps momentarily lost his concentration when he predicted that Modi will destroy the nation.

Amit Shah

This slip of the tongue has happened within a few days since Amit Shah himself was found committing a blunder when he accused state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, of being corrupt. At a press conference, he had said that if there was an award meant for corruption, Yeddyurappa-led government would have bagged the first prize.

Shah, on Thursday, had actually said that Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government has failed in achieving development of the state. He exhorted the people to repose trust in Narendra Modi and vote for Yeddyurappa to enable the party to see that the state moves ahead of other states in all the spheres.

Similar blunders were also committed by chief minister, Siddaramaiah, in the past, when he had blamed his own party for being corrupt and inefficient. The Congress however lapped up the above opportunity provided to them by Shah and mentioned in its tweet that Amit Shah too has conceded that Yeddyurappa's tenure as chief minister was the most corrupt.
