Israeli drone crashes in Lebanon

Jerusalem, Mar 31 (IANS): An Israeli drone crashed in an open area in Lebanon, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Saturday.

"This is due to a technical malfunction. There is no risk of leaked information," Xinhua news agency quoted the statement as saying.

The Israeli Army also added that the incident, that took place on Friday night, is currently being reviewed.

According to Hezbollah's al-Manar TV station, the drone went down between the villages of Beit Yahoun and Baraachit in southern Lebanon.

The IDF drone was on an intelligence-gathering mission in southern Lebanon, as part of routine operations, which also included an increased activity of IAF fighter jets in northern Israel, the media added.
